James S. (Jim) Farley is President and CEO of the Leichtag Family Foundation. To date, this Carlsbad-based private foundation has distributed more than $40 million in grants, predominantly in the San Diego region, to alleviate human hardship, advance self-sufficiency and promote tolerance and understanding. The foundation has a strong dedication to children and education, with a focus on early childhood education, health and well-being.
 
Mr. Farley has been a practicing attorney for 35 years, serving in an executive business management capacity in diverse fields. A native Californian with a long commitment to community involvement, Mr. Farley has assumed a leadership role in many local non-profit organizations. He is a founding member and current board member of the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation. He serves on the Community Advisory Board at Scripps Memorial Hospital, Encinitas; as Corporate Secretary of San Diego North Convention and Visitors’ Bureau; and as a member of the City of Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Commission. He is past president of Seacrest Village Retirement Communities and Quail Botanical Gardens Foundation.
 
Mr. Farley and his wife, a retired elementary and preschool teacher, live in Carlsbad, California.
